AppliedSeparations Introduction Pressurized solvent extraction (PSE) is a new sampleextraction technique that reduces solvent consumptionand sample preparation time. Solvent is pumped intoan extraction vessel that contains the sample to beextracted.The vessel is heated andpressurized.Thepressurized solvent at high temperature accelerates theextraction of analytes by increasing analyte solubilityand also increasing the kinetic rate of desorption ofthe analyte from the sample matrix.
