A macro ATR method may be a suitable alternative a n d offers advantages such as minimal sample preparation, non-destructive measu r eme n t and easy-handl i ng . A key r equi r ement f or high quality ATR measure m e n t is f u ll contact between the sample and ATR pr i sm. In t h e case of a convent i o n a l ATR accessory, the user can n ot ensure whether the prism is in direct contact with t h e foreign contami n a n t or n ot. JASCO's l atest metal. I n the upper spectrum, the O-H peak (a r ound 3300cml) and C-O-C peak (a r ound 1000 cml) conf i rmed that the mai n component is cel l ulose. In the l ower spect r um, C-H peak (around 2900 cml ) and C=O peak (around 1720 cm-) are not attr i buted to cellulose. In order to i dentify the foreign mater i a l , the subtraction spectrum was calcu l ated and searched t h rough a spectra l database identifying the foreign material as polyester. Figure 3.
