The ARS manufactured LT4B Helitran is a True UHV cold head (10-11 Torr) where all of the rubber o-ring seals have been replaced with welded joints and metal seals. The LT4B is our lowest cost liquid flow UHV cryostat. The LT4B works with either Liquid Helium or Liquid Nitrogen. The LT4 utilizes a standard transfer line and cold tip. The vibrational energy will be excited from the ground state to the excited state.Unlike dispersive spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) contains many frequencies of light at once and measure absorption. Next, the beam contains a different combination of frequencies of light and repeat it. After repeating several times, the raw data will be processed to resulting data cm-1, wavenumber.This process is called the Fourier Transform.

Deep-LevelTransientSpectroscopy(DLTS)

Deep-level transient spectroscopy (DLTS) is a very powerful tool to detect the defect concentration and thermal emission rate of semiconductor deep levels by measuring capacitance transients as a function of temperature. It normally used the Schottky diode or p-n junction as a probe. In the process, the probe is forward biased to fill the defects with free carriers by a pulse voltage. After the pulse, the defects start emitting trapped carriers due to thermal emission.

Quantum Hall effect, a quantum mechanical version of the Hall effect, is one of the phenomena. It is frequently used to characterize modern quantum materials with magnetoresistance.Magnetoresistance is a phenomenon of change in the resistance when a sample submitted to a magnetic field.When a sample contains ferromagnetic metals, the interplay of the magnetization of the sample and spin-polarized current is involved. The electrical resistance may chance through magnetoresistance effects that originate from different physical phenomena, such as giant magnetoresistance and tunnel magnetoresistance effects, which lead to the subject of Spintronics.

The CS202*F-DMX-20B opens up a wide range of possibilities never before possible with a closed cycle cryocooler. The ARS manufactured DMX-20B interface, like our “B” series cold heads is a True UHV System (10-11 Torr) where all of the rubber o-ring seals have been replaced with welded joings and metal seals. A CF flange is The DE202*F-DMX-20B uses a Helium Exchange Gas to decouple the sample from the cold tip of the DE202 Cryocooler. This prevents almost all vibration from being transmitted to the sample. Sample vibration levels of 3-5nm have been demonstrated by users. Due to the exchange gas being less conductive, the base temperature will increase by 1-2K and the cooling capacity is roughly cut in half at varying temperatures.

The combination of True UHV and angstrom level vibrations makes the LT3B ideal for low temperature STM application. The sample stick can use any of the starndard ARS sample holders as well as receive a second set of temperature control instrumentation for fine tuning of the sample temperature.
