X-20B UHV超低振动超精细闭循环恒温器

X-20B超低振动超精细闭循环低温恒温器主要用于UHV环境。ARS生产的X-20B恒温器是真正的UHV系统,真空度可达10-11 Torr,该产品全部用焊接接头及金属密封替换橡胶O圈密封,并在制冷机上直接焊接CF法兰。

X-20B系列恒温器的冷头可以直接从该系统上移除且不会破坏系统真空度,所以X-20B系统的另一个优势就是可以轻松烘烤到200℃。

X-20B系列恒温器使用氦气交换冷却样品,这样阻断了传输到样品上的大部分振动,经测试该系统振动级别仅为3-5nm.

由于交换气体没有固体热传导快。所以样品的基本温度会比制冷机高1-2K。另外,为保证交换气体的对流冷却效果,X-20系列需要冷头朝下放置。

当系统正确安装在墙壁和工作台上并进行适当调整后,压缩机工作时产生的振动影响非常小(几乎可以忽略不计)。

加宽(不是扩大!)完全可复制,远低于2%。这种加宽实际上没有任何影响,几乎在所有情况下都可以忽略。但是,比较林宽度的时候需要用同样计算方式!

穆斯堡尔谱配置

为了最 大限度地隔离振动,系统的正确安装是非常重要的。ARS提供了一个特殊的超低振动支架用于隔离超低振动恒温器来自冷头和地板的振动。

该支架可以通过调节到恰当的高度来支撑冷头。

低温恒温器安装在低振动平台上。它由一个高质量的花岗岩块(用户提供)组成,由4气腿支撑(可选ARS产品)。额外的弹性隔震器过滤掉从地板到低温恒温器的振动。

系统可通过关闭制冷机来观察振动对实验的影响来进行测试。

Scanning Tunnel Microscopy (STM) is the earliest technique that was developed in the scanning probe microscopy (SPM) area. It generates imaging surfaces with atomic resolution, which is ~ 0.1 nm in lateral and ~ 0.01 nm in depth. The principle of the STM is based on quantum tunneling. When conducting measurements,a conducting sharp tip as the probe is brought very close to the surface. In the meantime, a voltage bias is applied between the tip and sample to make electrons tunnel through space. The resulting image is the change in the tip height as the tip is scanned over the sample surface. Clean sample surface and tip, and low electronic and physical noise are required for high-resolution STM imaging. The STM can be widely used in UHV or any other gas or liquid ambients from the temperature of ~ 0K up to 1300K.

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is one of the most versatile instruments for the examination of the surface topography and composition of the sample. The surface images result from the interaction of a focused electron beam with atoms in the sample, which can achieve < 1 nm resolution. Signals generated during the interaction include secondary electrons (SE), back-scattered electrons (BSE), characteristic X-ray and cathodoluminescence, absorbed current, and transmitted electrons. SE is the most standard signal that SEM detects. It has low energies, which leads to a higher resolution. BSE occurs in deeper places within the sample and strongly relates to the atomic number. It is very often used for composition analysis along with characteristic X-ray spectra. Many SEM measurements are conducted when the sample stage is cooled down to cryogenic temperatures based on different sample properties.

Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy is a widely used technique for the characterization of the optical and electronic properties of semiconductors and molecules. PL is a process of light emission from any form of matter after the absorption of photons. The incident photon in the visible region excites one of its electrons to the excited state. And then, it radiates a photon as the electron return to the lower energy state. In quantum mechanics, the energy band is quantized, which means only certain transitions are allowed. Therefore, the discontinued energy peaks of luminescence are expected.

Diamond Anvil Cell (DAC) is an experimental component that generates extreme pressure by compressing a small piece of material with two opposing diamonds. The pressure can normally go up to 100-200 GPa. The goal of this technique is to simulate the deep inside planet environment to synthesize materials and observe phases that don’t happen under normal ambient atmosphere. The sample is able to be viewed through diamonds and also allows optical measurements, such as X-ray diffraction, Mössbauer, and photoluminescence. Commonly, the sample can be heated by resistance heating up to 1000 °C or laser heating up to 5700 °C. DAC experiments also can be operated at cryogenic temperatures for different purposes.

The thermoelectric effect is the relationship between thermal and electric. When a temperature difference is created on both sides of the device, carriers in material diffuse from the hot side to the cold side, which results in a voltage across the device. Conversely, when a voltage is applied, heat is transferred from one side to the other, a temperature gradient is created. Parahydrogen is one of two magnetic forms of hydrogen gas (H2). It’s commonly used to increase the sensitivity of NMR and MRI measurements. Molecular hydrogen consists of two atoms. Each of the atoms has a spinning nucleus. Based on the direction of the nuclear spin, there are two types of hydrogens. If the spins of the two hydrogen nuclei are aligned, it’s orthohydrogen. If the spins are opposed, it’s parahydrogen.In general, hydrogens is an equilibrium mixture of ortho- and para-hydrogen. There is a tiny energy difference between the two magnetic states.

X-rayDiffraction

X-ray Diffraction (XRD) is a technique to determine the atomic and molecular structure of a crystal based on Bragg diffraction. X-rays are commonly used to produce the diffraction pattern because their wavelength is typically the same order of magnitude (1–100 angstroms) as the spacing d between planes in the crystal. The information on the intensity and angle of the diffractive X-rays can produce a 3D picture of the density of electrons within the crystal, which leads to the mean positions of atoms as well as chemical bonds, disorders, and other information. If it’s a single crystal sample, it’s usually mounted on a goniometer, which can position the sample at selected orientations. The benefits of the low-temperature XRD are to reduce the radiation damage and thermal motion. Low-temperature XRD also helps characterize superconductor materials.

NeutronScattering

Neutron scattering is utilized to understand the properties of materials on the atomic scale. The benefits of the neutron scattering are to have similar wavelengths to the spacing between atoms, similar energy to atoms, no charge to avoid strong scattering by charges to penetrate more deeply into the matter, scattered similar extent by light and heavy atoms, and suitable magnetic moment for magnetism measurement. Neutron scattering produces prominent interference and energy transfer effects because neutrons interact primarily with the nucleus, not electron cloud surrounding it in XRD. Nowadays, neutron studies of quantum materials are commonly used for the development of IT technology and superconducting materials. At cryogenic temperatures, the energy distribution of the neutrons can be shifted to the lower energy end of the spectrum. Interesting neutron scattering phenomena are also commonly discovered at low-temperature.

Sentron’s new magnetic angular sensor 2SA-10 detects the absolute angular position of a small magnet that is positioned above the device surface. The 2SA-10 is an integrated combination of a CMOS Hall circuit and a thin ferromagnetic disk. The CMOS circuit contains two pairs of Hall-elements for each of the two directions parallel with the chip surface X and Y. The ferromagnetic disk amplifies the external magnetic field and concentrates it on the Hall elements.
