神经元中干细胞转变可用以治疗神经疾病

最近来自美国加州大学圣迭戈分校的研究人员在Cell Reports上发表研究成果，发现一种名为UPF1的蛋白在未成熟神经元细胞在保持干细胞状态还是分化为有功能的神经元过程中起着重要作用。研究人员发现这一选择主要是通过nonsense-mediated RNA decay (NMD)通路实现的。而目前科学家对NMD作用的认识主要包括甄别错误的信使RNA以及分解一些特定的正常信使RNA。而此次UCSD的科学家发现UPF1可以通过该通路抑制一种编码TGF-β通路蛋白的mRNA并进而抑制未成熟神经元的分化。
