英国开展利用干细胞治疗心脏病研究

英国伦敦科学家最近启动了有史以来最大规模的干细胞治疗心脏病的研究。此次将有来自欧洲11国的超过3000名患者将参与这一计划。研究人员解释说，医生将从患者骨髓中抽取患者自身的干细胞并注射到患者心脏部位，以修复心脏病患者受损组织。而根据有关部门统计，心脏病已经成为影响英国人健康的头号杀手。

而该项计划的负责人介绍说，自从干细胞技术问世以来，一直没有一项大型的临床计划来证明该技术对心脏病治疗的帮助，而此次计划则能够弥补这一空白。研究人员估计，干细胞治疗手段将使心脏病致死率降低25%，同时还能有效改善由心脏病而引起的血管变脆弱和心肌受损等并发症。另一方面，医学专家还表示这一技术的成熟有利于降低心脏病医疗成本。
