Randall-Selitto痛觉测试仪根据Randall-Selitto理论设计，是进行压爪实验的经典仪器。实验时，将啮齿类动物的爪置于圆柱形底座，操作员踩压脚踏板，其上方的圆锥形推进器往爪上施力。当受试动物开始挣扎时，操作员松开脚踏板板，读取刻度值，其表示受试动物的疼痛值。压痛仪的显著特征是配备了一个低电压同步电动机。
该实验常用于止痛药和消炎药的快速筛选。
