汽车悬架系统是由各种部件组成的复杂总成,包括控制臂、弹簧、减震器和弹性元件。现代化的悬架设计必须寻求性能、乘坐舒适度、重量和成本之间的平衡。轻量化设计导致改用铝合金、碳纤维等轻质材料意味着需要更多的测试来确保这些新组件能够满足实际应用的需求。悬架系统既具柔顺性又不乏刚性,具有多个对速度敏感的非线性元件,这使得准确再现实际载荷的情况极具挑战。

为数不多的测试悬架系统的可靠方法之一就是尽可能包括完全的总成,这其中也包括它们在车辆中的安装点。在与车轮对应的附着点对车桥施力。通过使用测力轮测量实际“道路加载”,可以在实验室中模拟出相同的加载情况。

Challenge:  Evaluating the Durability of Suspensions

Automotive suspensions are complex assemblies composed of a wide range of components, from stiff control arms to springs to damper and elastomer elements.  Modern suspension design seeks to balance performance, ride comfort, weight, and cost all at the same time.  The move to lightweight materials such as aluminum alloys, carbon fiber, and others mean that more testing is required to ensure that these new assemblies can meet the demands of real-world use.  Suspension systems are both compliant and stiff and have a number of rate sensitive and non-linear elements which can make accurate replication of real-world loading a challenge. 

One of the few ways to reliably test a suspension is to include as much as possible the complete assembly which may also include the mounting points in the vehicle.  Forces are then introduced to the spindles at the same attachment points as the wheels.  By measuring real-world “road loads” using a specially instrumented wheel, the same loading conditions can be simulated in the laboratory.


The Solution

Instron’s multi-axial suspension test systems are used to input complex and dynamic forces into the wheel attachment points.  These forces are first measured on proving grounds or in real life using instrumented wheels.  In the laboratory, a multi-axial simulator uses high performance hydraulics and complex control algorithms to recreate those same loads.  Loads can be input to the suspension in all 6 degrees of freedom, and can also include steering angle.  Systems can be configured to test either suspension assemblies or complete vehicles.  Instron’s simulators have proven performance, long life, and advanced features to meet today’s most demanding suspension test requirements.
