A numerical implementation of the advectionequation is proposed to increase the temporal resolution ofPIV time series. The method is based on the principle thatvelocity fluctuations are transported passively, similar toTaylor’s hypothesis of frozen turbulence. In the presentwork, the advection model is extended to unsteady threedimensionalflows. The main objective of the method is thatof lowering the requirement on the PIV repetition rate fromthe Eulerian frequency toward the Lagrangian one.
