The precision of retention time and peak volume is determined, and the purine alkaloids caffeine and theobromine as well as the catechins catechin, epicatechin, and epigallocatechin gallate contained in green and black tea are quantified.

  • 层析PIV(Tomographic PIV)和立体PIV(Stereo PIV)比较
    Tomographic PIV as a full volume 3D-3C flow field measurement technique can also be appliedto thin sheets used in standard PIV. Tomographic PIV and Stereo PIV are compared with experimental datafrom an impinging jet in water. The field of view is 60 mm x 40 mm, the light sheet thickness is varied from8 to 55 pixel. Images have been recorded with 4 cameras to gain results from two independent Stereo PIVsystems and from Tomographic PIV using 2-4 cameras. Different error sources for both techniques arequantified. It is shown that instantaneous flow fields from Tomographic PIV deviate less from each of thetwo stereo systems, than the two stereo systems deviate from each other. A systematic error pattern isidentified for the two stereo systems, which is not present for Tomographic PIV. Thin volume TomographicPIV allows the calculation of multiple vector planes. Two planes can be calculated even for the thinnest lightsheet (8 pixel) providing the full 3x3 strain-tensor. Thicker sheets with up to twelve vector planes allow thevisualization of the small vortex structures in this experiment.

The resulting relative height ofthe boundary layer thickness d was 0:6 h=d 2:5, while theReynolds number based on the length l between leading edgeand cylinder centre Rel was 57 000 Rel 188 000. A pair ofcounter-rotating vortices was found in the wake of the cylinder.The rotation sense is such, that in the center of the wake apositive vertical velocity component results. Also horseshoevortices were found next to these trailing vortices. The relativeheight of the incoming boundary layer has a large impact on thedevelopment, strength and dissipation of the vortex system.

    The Tomographic-PIV measurement system performances are experimentally assessed within the presentstudy. The technique is applied to the turbulent air flow past circular cylinders in two configurations, namely thethin light sheet and the thick light sheet. In the first case the Tomo-PIV measurements are compared withstereoscopic PIV, which is assumed as a reference result. Image signal conditioning by pre-processing seems to beessential in order to achieve an accurate particle field reconstruction in presence of background light and electronicnoise. The comparison shows that the two techniques are basically equivalent in the thin light sheet configuration.The 3D measurements are performed with the thick light sheet technique where the instantaneous velocity vectordistribution is measured over a domain of 31x26x10 mm3 yielding 28x24x5 velocity vectors. The vortex wake past acircular section cylinder is visualized within the volume snapshots and the time-averaged flow representation showsa consistent flow pattern with respect to the geometric boundary conditions with the separated shear layers alignedalong the cylinder axis.

Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), a powerful tool thatmakes flow visible, was extended to microscale by Santiago et al. 1998. In this paper, we presentedthe micro Particle Image Velocimetry (μ PIV) system at Nanyang Technological University (NTU),its calibration and characterizations of microfluidic devices using μ PIV. Since the fully developedmicrochannel flow has been well investigated, it is suitable to calibrate the measurements of μ PIV.In our experiment, an in-channel microdispenser fabricated on printed circuit board is used to form amicrochannel. A syringe pump forces water that contains fluorescent particles. The flow field is obtainedby μ PIV. At the same time, a three-dimensional model with ANSYS/FLOTRAN was used.The comparison between the two results demonstrates that our μ PIV system works well. Furthermorewe use this system to characterize a Tesla valve - a non-moving part valve. The valve consistsof a fluid channel structure that has rectification property, which favors forward flow while hampersreverse flow. The velocity fields are also validated by ANSYS/FLOTRAN.

    In this paper a comparative study is presented to assess the uncertainty of two methods for 3C3D velocimetry in microscopic flows: stereoscopic micro-particle image velocimetry (S-μPIV) and wavefront-deformation, or astigmatism, micro-particle tracking velocimetry (WD-μPTV). First, the main parameters affecting both methods’ measurement uncertainty are identified, described and quantified. Second, the test case of flow over a backward-facing step is analyzed using both methods. For comparison standard 2D-2C μPIV measurements and numerical flow simulations are shown as well. Advantages and disadvantages of both methods are discussed.

    A novel technique to increase the accuracy of multiplicative algebraic reconstructiontechnique (MART) reconstruction from tomographic particle image velocimetry (PIV)recordings at higher seeding density than currently possible is presented. The motion trackingenhancement (MTE) method is based on the combined utilization of images from two or moreexposures to enhance the reconstruction of individual intensity fields. The working principle isfirst introduced qualitatively, and the mathematical background is given that explains how theMART reconstruction can be improved on the basis of an improved first guess object obtainedfrom the combination of non-simultaneous views reduced to the same time instant deformingthe 3D objects by an estimate of the particle motion field. The performances of MTE arequantitatively evaluated by numerical simulation of the imaging, reconstruction and imagecorrelation processes. The cases of two or more exposures obtained from time-resolvedexperiments are considered. The iterative application of MTE appears to significantly improvethe reconstruction quality, first by decreasing the intensity of the ghost images and second, byincreasing the intensity and the reconstruction precision for the actual particles. Based oncomputer simulations, the maximum imaged seeding density that can be dealt with is tripledwith respect to the MART analysis applied to a single exposure.
