Similar to ground glass, but one surface is flashed with a milky white “opal” coating to diffuse light evenly. Opal glass can be used to achieve a near Lambertian source. The level of diffusion in opal glass causes a large amount of scattering loss. Opal layer is 0.45mm (+0.35, -0.2) thick.
