[产品介绍:脑红蛋白/神经血红蛋白/神经球蛋白抗体Neuroglobin, a 151 amino acid reside protein, mainly expressed in vertebrate brain and retina, is a recently identified member of the globin superfamily. Augmenting O2 supply, neuroglobin promotes survival of neurons upon hypoxic injury, potentially limiting brain damage. Moreover, neuroglobin may be a novel oxidative stress-responsive sensor for signal transduction in the brain. Neuroglobin expression is increased by neuronal hypoxia in vitro and focal cerebral ischemia in vivo, and neuronal survival after hypoxia is reduced by inhibiting neuroglobin expression with an antisense oligodeoxynucleotide and enhanced by neuroglobin overexpression.
Function : Involved in oxygen transport in the brain. Hexacoordinate globin, displaying competitive binding of oxygen or the distal His residue to the iron atom. Not capable of penetrating cell membranes. The deoxygenated form exhibits nitrite reductase activity inhibiting cellular respiration via NO-binding to cytochrome c oxidase. Involved in neuroprotection during oxidative stress. May exert its anti-apoptotic activity by acting to reset the trigger level of mitochondrial cytochrome c release necessary to commit the cells to apoptosis.
Subunit : Monomer. Homodimer and homotetramer; disulfide-linked (By similarity).
Subcellular Location : Perikaryon (By similarity).
Tissue Specificity : Predominantly expressed in brain, the strongest expression is seen in the frontal lobe, the subthalamic nucleus and the thalamus.
Post-translational modifications : A redox disulfide bond regulates the heme pocket coordination and the rate of nitrite reduction to NO (By similarity).
Phosphorylated in vitro by ERK1, ERK2 and PKA, and in vivo during hypoxia. Phosphorylation increases nitrite reductase activity (By similarity).
Similarity : Belongs to the globin family.
