Cat.#: 2243-1
Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody

Description
Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules. It binds two moles of GTP, one at an exchangeable site on the beta chain and one at a non-exchangeable site on the alpha-chain. An essential component of microtubules, alpha-tubulin is also a multigene family in many species (1). Familial amyloidosis, British type, is an autosomal dominant disease characterized by progressive dementia, spastic paralysis and ataxia. The identity of the accumulating amyloid is not known, thus preventing the definitive classification of the disease. Findings suggest that the C-terminal fragments of both alpha- and beta-tubulin are closely associated to the amyloid deposits of familial amyloidosis, British type (2).
Recommended Applications
WB, ICC
Applications and Recommended Dilution Factors
WB: 1:25,000
ICC: 1:50 - 100
Species Reactivity
Human
Cross reactivity determined by western blot only.
Products Data
A. Western blot analysis on Jurkat cell lysates using anti-Phospho-Alpha-Tubulin (p272) RabMAb (cat. #2243-1), 1:50,000 dilution. Cells were either (A) untreated (B) treated with pervanadate.
Specificity
A phospho synthetic peptide corresponding to residues surrounding tyrosine 272 of human alpha-tubulin was used as an immunogen. This antibody detects alpha-tubulin phosphorylated at tyrosine 272.
Storage Condition and Buffer
Store at -20 °C. Buffer: 50 mM Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 0.15 M NaCl, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% sodium azide and 0.05% BSA. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.
Alternative Names
