Description
ABCA1 is a member of the superfamily of ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters. ABC proteins transport various molecules across extra- and intracellular membranes, and are divided into seven distinct subfamilies (ABC1, MDR/TAP, MRP, ALD, OABP, GCN20, White). This protein is a member of the ABC1 subfamily. Members of the ABC1 subfamily comprise the only major ABC subfamily found exclusively in multicellular eukaryotes. With cholesterol as its substrate, ABCA1 functions as a cholesteral efflux pump in the cellular lipid removal pathway. Mutations in this protein have been associated with Tangier's disease and familial high-density lipoprotein deficiency (1). It has been shown that Ser-1042 and Ser-2054, located in the nucleotide binding domains of ABCA1, are major phosphorylation sites for PKA. Phosphorylation of Ser-2054 within the nucleotide binding domain 2 was found to be particularly important for ApoA-I-dependent phospholipid efflux activity mediated by ABCA1 (2).

Products Data
Western blot analysis on SH-SY5Y cell lysates using anti-Phospho-ABCA1 (pS2054) RabMAb (cat. #3653-1). Cells were either (A) untreated (B) treated with Okadaic Acid and Calyculin A.
Immunofluorescent analysis of SHSY5Y cells treated with Okadaic Acid and Calyculin A using anti-Phospho-ABCA1 (pS2054) RabMAb (cat. #3653-1)
Specificity
A phospho specific peptide corresponding to residues surrounding serine 2054 of human ABCA1 was used as an immunogen. This antibody only detects ABCA1 phosphorylated at serine 2054.
Storage Condition and Buffer
Store at -20 °C. Buffer: 50 mM Tris-Glycine (pH 7.4), 0.15 M NaCl, 40% Glycerol, 0.01% sodium azide and 0.05% BSA. Stable for 12 months from date of receipt.
